NB Staff - Coaching

Thank you for desire and willingness to coach or manage a team! We appreciate all the time and effort you put forward to make North Branch Hockey one of the best programs in the State!

Please carefully review the requirements below, as some require yearly refreshers / renewals while other are every other year.

All fees associated with required training and/or certification are subject to reimbursement.

Please complete the reimbursement form and submit it, along with all receipts to the Treasurer. Reimbursement requests without receipts may not be honored.

Reimbursements will be paid at or before the yearly board meeting at the end of that coaching season (typically the April Board Meeting).


Coaching Requirements

  1. Complete the USA Hockey Registration *Cost is $46 plus any affiliate fees if applicable
  2. Complete Safesport Training *This required yearly, and coaches cannot be rostered until this is complete
  3. Complete Background Screening
  4. MN Hockey Concussion Certification (upload required during registration)
  5. Complete the Foundations of Player Development Pre-requisite. *Coaches will need to complete the Foundations of Player Development module before purchasing their age-specific module. Once a coach completes the Foundations of Player Development module there will be a 15-minute window before they can purchase and complete their age-specific module)
  6. Find, register, and attend the required (CEP) Coaching Education Program Certification Clinic *The cost is $60, you can only attend one clinic per season and all coached start at level 1. Clinics begin April 1st for the new season. This certification must be completed by December 15th, 2024
  7. Complete Age Specific Modules *Cost is $20 per module and only needs to be completed once per age level. Must be completed PRIOR to participating in any team activities and cannot be added to a roster until completed


Team Manager Requirements

  1. Complete the USA Hockey Registration *Cost is $46 plus any affiliate fees if applicable
  2. Complete Safesport Training *This required yearly, and coaches cannot be rostered until this is complete
  3. Complete Background Screening


Student Coaching Requirments

  1. Register as a member of USA Hockey.
  2. If you are registered as a player for the current season, you do not need to re-register with USA Hockey
  3. Complete our NBAHA Staff Registration.
  4. Complete the USA Hockey Student Coach form below and email to our Registrar.
  5. Complete the USA Student Coach Clinic Slide Show.


2024-2025 Season

This registration is open for all coaches and team managers. Please note that you must register with USA Hockey, complete safe sport training and pass a background check before you are allowed to be rostered to a team. 

2025-2026 Season

This registration is open for all coaches and team managers.

Traveling Coaches

Before you are allowed to skate on ice and can be rostered on a team through USA Hockey you complete the following.

1. Register at USA Hockey 

2. Complete your Safesport Training

3. Complete your USA Hockey Background Screening (this is good for 2 seasons) 

4. Complete your age required module for the level you are coaching at This must be completed PRIOR to participating in any team activities and cannot be added to a roster until completed).

5. Have a current CEP training card or show proof you are signed up for CEP training class. (Must be completed before Dec. 31 each season) If you are a level 4 coach that has an expiration date this of this year, 5 hours of CE is required before Dec. 31st. You will be redlined if this not complete.

6. Complete concussion training through CDC Heads Up or by completing your age specific module. We need proof of one or the other that is valid for the 25-26 season. These are good for 2 years.

Before you register, please make sure you have the list complete above as these documents are required during registration.

*We can accept a screenshot of this page for your proof of CEP and Age Modules/Certificate of Concussion Training if all are current. It can take 24-48 hours to update after completion of module and 1-2 weeks after completion of CEP Class.

Mite|8U under Coaches

Please complete all steps above, but if your CEP card is expired, it is not required that you take the next level.
